Cathedral of Our Lady
The Antwerp Cathedral of our Lady is a masterpiece of lace work in stone and began construction in 1352. Begun in 1352, it is one of the finest gothic buildings in Europe. The church, which became a cathedral in 1559 replaced a Romanesque church built in the 12th century. The last vestiges of that church were demolished in 1481. The church features several murals painted by Paul Rubens.

There are many beautiful cathedrals in Europe, and if you have already seen the big boys- Notre Dame, St.Pauls, St. Peters, Salisbury.. it wont be that impressive. However, it is a really lovely gothic cathedral with some amazing gothic work and stained glass windows. Truly the most impressive point are the Rubens panels inside. I think there were 3 of them, and they are very stunning to see up close. It is certainly worth your time to peruse through, it doesnt cost much and wow, 3 Rubens!!

This is an unbelievable work. Pictures do not do it justice and you have to see it for yourself to appreciate the craftsmanship involved in building something like this. The inside of the church is beautiful as well and there are some murals done by Rubens. There is also a section underneath the main level where you can see the original construction and some graves. This is definitely worth visiting.
