This is a must see if you are in Victoria. While the price tag for this garden is expensive it is well worth the investment. While the sunken garden is the main attraction, I really enjoyed the Japanese garden the best. The little streams and pools in the Japanese garden are really fun.
It can get crowded here, so I would recommend going durning the week if possible, or early or late in the day.
Really you can visit the garden any time of the year. I would think that spring and early summer would be the best for the many flowers, but the autum colors can be excellent as well.

Really beautiful gardens, no doubt. The bulbs and the japanese gardens were stunning and the sunken garden made from a used quarry was amazing. If one were to walk through and not take pictures or wait for friends, one could be through this park in an hour, so the price tag seems a bit steep- you have to really like botanical gardens. .

Expensive for a garden, but WOW! Very beautiful and plenty to see. I particularly like the sunken garden and the Japanese garden. I've been trying to compare Butchart to the Keukenhof in the Netherlands and its definitely up there in the same class. Oddly enough, it wasn't the easiest place to find and we were using a GPS.
